Evaluation & Prototyping
Weather tells us what’s outside. Not what it means for us.
I explored how Samsung Weather could move beyond a one-size-fits-all forecast by combining weather, health, wearable, and behavioral signals to deliver guidance that adapts to each person and moment.
The Challenge & Insight
73° ≠ the same for everyone
Traditional weather products optimize for forecast accuracy. But through user research, I found that the same conditions can lead to very different decisions depending on someone’s health, routine, activity, and intent.
The Opportunity · Samsung’s Full Ecosystem
What if weather understood my context?
Samsung's ecosystem connects weather, health, activity, and wearable signals, creating an opportunity to turn forecasts into guidance that responds to the individual.

Contextual Signals
Defining the signals behind each recommendation
I combined personal, environmental, and behavioral signals to determine which activity to surface, when to recommend it, and at what intensity.
My Approach
Designing how personalized guidance behaves
Surface the Right Guidance
Bring personalized guidance directly into L1, helping users quickly understand what fits their context and why.
Adapt Content to Context
Surface the most relevant content based on the user’s activity, location, conditions, and moment.
05
Turn Guidance Into Action
Translate recommendations into clear next steps, helping users decide when to go, what to prepare for, and when to adjust their plans.
Evaluation Framework
What makes personalized guidance “good”?
I defined five criteria to evaluate recommendation quality, then used this framework during live prototype testing to assess outputs across different user contexts.
Across the Ecosystem
Intelligence shouldn’t live in one app.

Responsive by Design
Designed for every Galaxy
Thoughtfully adapted across screen sizes, layouts, and device contexts.
System Contribution
From Weather to One UI
Components and interaction patterns developed through this project were adopted by the One UI system team, extending the work beyond Weather into Samsung’s broader design system.

Results
Proposed in early 2025, key elements launched with One UI 7 that May, then evolved through real-world feedback into a more personalized direction pitched in 2026.
Extended beyond Weather across messaging, widgets, Samsung Health, Watch, and other Galaxy surfaces, bringing contextual guidance into the moments that matter.
Designed as Galaxy shifted toward more proactive, context-aware intelligence, within an AI ecosystem reaching 400M+ users globally by 2026.
